HRCYED 3.0!

I’m back once again to try and do the Hardest Reading Challenge You’ll Ever Do 3.0. I did not complete 2.0, but I kind of forgot about it when I was doing it last year.

Some of the prompts that I’ve been focusing on are Titular Counting (read books with different amounts of words in the title from 1-10) and A Rainbow of Words (read a book with each of these colors in the title – Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Pink, White, Black, Silver, Gold). Currently I have finished five of the categories: Choose Your Party (DnD classes), Cover Styles (read six books with different cover styles), Biomes and Landscapes (read six books with different biomes on the covers), Pocket Monsters (read five books related to Pokémon types), and Animal Families (read six books with different animals on the cover). So far I’ve got six books read for Titular Counting and six for A Rainbow of Words. Oh, and I’ve read the first three secret prompts: read a book with a teal cove (How to Find a Princess by Alyssa Cole), something frozen on the cover (Always Faithful by Sherry A. Burton, there’s snow on the cover), and fall book vibes (Spring, Lies, and Alibis by Aalis Durant). The October secret prompts are read a book set in a place that you wouldn’t want to go or read a book set on an island smaller than Greenland. I’m going to try and do both. Since I live in the Keys, I can just read a book set here and that will count and then I was thinking of doing Between Two Fires as the other book. It’s set during plague time and I would definitely not want to go there.

For a Rainbow of Words, I have read Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson, Red Threads by Ila Nguyen-Hayama, In a Blue Room by Jim Averbeck, Black by Kwanza Osajyefo, Blue & Gold by Dan Jurgens, The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and Whiteout by various authors. I still need to read books for orange, green, pink, and silver. I do already have books picked out for all of those colors, though; now I just have to get through them all. I’m currently reading A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess for the orange prompt and Hemlock and Silver by T. Kingfisher for silver.

I’ve got a few other books for random categories such as Motherlover by Lindsay Ishihiro for Familial Terms and The Holly-Tree by Dickens for It’s Your Birthday! which is prompts all about me. The holly tree is my birth tree so that’s how it connects to the prompt. I’m reading The Vegetarian by Han King for Traipsing Through Regions (Korea) and Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas for Anthology of Authors.

That’s all for now. I’ll keep you updated as I get more books read and more categories complete. I hope that you’ll join in on this fun challenge. I would love to hear from you on what you’re doing to the categories! Happy reading everyone!
