Summer Reading

Do you guys participate in a Summer Reading program? We are doing one for the kids at our library and we will have one for the adults in August. The kids are really enjoying the program, they especially love the prizes (what kid doesn’t want a stretchy alien or some slime??). I’m really enjoying having so many kids come in and want to read and being able to help them find books that they will enjoy.

Our adult program is going to be a scavenger hunt! There will be four prompts on a really cool little card that looks like our old card catalog and all you will need to do is fill it out and bring it back in for a prize! You can do one book for each prompt or if you find a book that works for all four then you can do one book (that will get you a bonus prize!). My card has a book set in the future, a book a member of the library staff recommended to you and two others that I can’t remember off the top of my head. I have one that someone has recommended to me already. Our historian Breanna recommended (and let me borrow her copy of) Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco which has actually been on my TBR for awhile now so it’ll be nice to finally read it. I’m not sure what I’m going to read for the book set in the future. Do you guys have any suggestions? I really love YA and graphic novels but I will try anything once! Let me know in the comments if you have a suggestion for a really good book set in the future. I hope you guys are all having a great week! I (hopefully) will be back this weekend with another weekly round up but it’s getting really close to my moving out date so I might be a few days late (again). I can’t wait to be done with moving and be settled again! Although I think once we get into our new place I will have a desk again and a nice area to work! Which will be fantastic! It will be nice to have a desk to sit at again instead of just a couch and a laptop.
