Weekly Round Up! #34

This was a really busy week so I didn’t get to read as much as usual but I did get to a bunch of really great manga (again – I swear I read other things! Just not this week.). I hope you all had a great week and happy belated Valentine’s Day! Now onto the books!

Frau Faust Vol. 2

First up we have Frau Faust vol. 2 by Kore Yamazaki. This is the second volume in the series about Johanna Faust and her demonic servant Mephistopheles. On the run as usual, they are on the lookout for more parts of Mephistopheles and think they may have found something in a lonely church. We get to see a little bit of Johanna’s past as well which shows her before she makes a deal with her demon and what she was like back then. I really liked this second volume. There was a particular part once they got to the church that was my absolute favorite (no spoilers) and really drove home why I like this series so much. If you liked Fullmetal Alchemist then I think you would very much enjoy this one as well!

Kaguya-Sama: Love is War Vol. 1

Next up we have Kaguya-Sama: Love is War vol. 1 by Aka Akasaka. This is a rivals in love manga and that is one of my favorite genres to read so I really enjoyed this. The art was a little rough in places but I didn’t really mind to much as this is a first volume (I’m hoping it’ll get better as the series continues). In this first volume we are introduced to two genius students, Kaguya and Miyuki, who go to a prestigious academy and are the president and vice-president of the student council. They both are in love with each other however, neither wants to be the first to confess! They think that the first person to confess is the loser so they try to get the other to confess their feelings first! This results in a series of slapstick schemes between the two as they try to get the other to break first. Who will confess first? I don’t know because no one confessed anything in this volume. But I will keep reading because now I really want to find out what happens.

Magus of the Library vol. 2

Next up we have the second volume of Magus of the Library by Mitsu Izumi. I adore this series so I was super excited to read this next volume! Theo starts off on his journey to become a kafna and travels to the city of Aftzaak. Along the way he meets a few new faces including an ADORABLE little creature that becomes his pet (seriously, I want a stuffed animal of that little guy!). He learns some valuable lessons and we get to see more of his background as well. This volume ends with Theo taking the test to become a kafna so we’ll have to wait for the next volume to see how that ends up. This was a great second volume and I can’t wait to see where the story goes!

Dragon Quest Monsters+ vol. 2

And lastly we have Dragon Quest Monsters+ volume 2 by Mine Yoshizaki. In this volume we continue on our journey with Kleo, who is now a Monster Master. At the end of the last volume he jumped into a portal and we had no idea what was on the other side. We find out that he is actually in a world created by the Dragonlord. I really liked that there were a lot of battles in this volume as well. I enjoyed all of those quite a lot! We also got introduced to a big dragon monster and a knight that may or may not have saved Kleo’s butt! Overall, this was a really good volume and I’m looking forward to the next one!

That is it for this week! I’d love to hear from you in the comments! Or come say hi on Twitter or Insta!
